This Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant's design focuses on "local, sustainable, and environmentally friendly" themes, connecting culture, nature, and the dining experience. The exterior features wood-grain aluminum louvers that evoke the shape of Mount Ali, echoing the local mountainous landscape. The interior continues the architectural language of the Japanese colonial period, incorporating a variety of natural materials to showcase historical traces and the warmth of the region.
The spatial ambiance embodies the Japanese aesthetics of "simplicity over complexity" and "shading." Translucent materials and layered lanterns create an expansive yet restrained play of light and shadow. A mural, inspired by the ukiyo-e painting "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," stretches across the space, recreating the bustling scene of the Edo period and evoking the cultural heritage and spirit of Japanese cuisine.
The overall design employs a concise approach, connecting local culture with the essence of Japanese cuisine. From structure to light and shadow to details, it strikes a balance between humanity and nature, tradition and modernity, creating a dining space imbued with storytelling and warmth.
