Wuhan Poly ELYSIAN

Drawing core inspiration from the European classical architecture in Hankou Concession Area, the project takes Contemporary Translation of Urban Context and Sustainable Community Building as its dual design cores. While inheriting the historical texture, it aims at low energy consumption, high adaptability and long life cycle, constructing a community public space that integrates historical profundity, modern aesthetic characteristics and eco-friendly properties. It realizes the symbiosis and integration of traditional architectural heritage, contemporary living scenarios and ecologically sustainable development, providing residents with an exclusive activity venue that is functional, experiential and cultural.
The design deeply extracts the essence of classic concession buildings such as Jianghan Pass and Bagong Mansion, accurately extracting iconic architectural elements including colonnades, arches and domes. Adopting the classic golden ratio, it reconstructs the design in line with the spatial scale and functional requirements of a contemporary community clubhouse, avoiding rigid stacking and formalistic reproduction of retro elements. Through three major design strategies, it achieves the modern expression of historical architectural elements:In terms of proportional reconstruction, a centrally symmetrical layout is adopted to shape a solemn sense of spatial order. The entrance interface and landscape nodes follow the proportions of classic architecture, precisely adapting to the usage scale of modern human settlements.
In terms of symbolic abstraction, the heavy columns in traditional architecture are transformed into concise vertical lines, and the curved outline of domes is refined into decorative shapes at the top, retaining the temperament of historical architecture while endowing the space with a light and transparent modern texture.
In terms of color matching, dark recycled metal serves as the base with golden lines as detailed embellishments. The main walls use high-durability local stone and environmentally friendly finishing materials, balancing low maintenance costs and long-term usage needs. Echoing the color system of old buildings in Hankou Concession, it enhances spatial hierarchy and texture, realizing the harmonious coexistence of traditional colors, modern materials and sustainable construction strategies.
